  19. HAVE YOU EVER USED "MAN" (MANUAL) PAGES TO LOOK UP UNIX COMMANDS?  
  20. Did you like how they worked, or did you think you could design
  21. them better? If so, here's your chance...

  23. SunSoft is looking for individuals to participate in the following
  24. usability study to evaluate new UNIX "man" page structure and content:

  26. STUDY TOPIC:    UNIX man pages
  27.  
  28. STUDY LENGTH:    1.5 hrs.
  29.  
  30. STUDY DATES:    Choice of "ONE" of these three days:
  31.         Tue, Feb. 27; Wed, Feb. 28; Thu, Feb. 29
  32.             Study dates/hours are flexible to fit your schedule.

  34. LOCATION:  SunSoft's Usability Engineering Center in Mountain View, CA
  35.        A map will be provided upon confirmation  
  36.      
  37. DURING THE STUDY YOU WILL:
  38. - Evaluate prototypes of new UNIX "man" page structure and content,
  39.   including commands and interfaces (system calls and library routines)
  40. - Discuss your likes, dislikes, concerns, and ideas, 
  41.   especially regarding content, ease of use, and overall satisfaction
  42. - Receive a small token gift in appreciation of your time and feedback
  43.

  45. WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO:
  46.     - are Software Developers with at least 6 months experience 
  47.       developing on UNIX (can be part-time)
  48.     - have at least 3 yrs. development experience on all systems
  49.        (including UNIX exper.)
  50.     - use man pages for reference when programming
  51.     - are familiar with C programming constructs (written or
  52.        maintained simple C programs)+
  53.  
  54. ALSO:
  55.     - Are willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement
  56.     - Are willing to be video taped during the study 
  57.       (your identity will be kept in confidence)
  58.     - Work/live within driving distance to Mountain View, CA
  59.     - Preferably, Do NOT work at Sun Microsystems, Inc.
